Tyler was born and raised in Utah, where he spent most of his time playing all sports as he grew up. He began playing tennis at the age of 10, and has both played and coached tennis for 21 years. Ranked as a top 30 Intermountain Tennis Competitor, Tyler played high school varsity tennis for four years, as well as two years of varsity basketball. He was a three-time individual Tennis State Champion who also helped lead his team to three team State Championships, including Dixie High School's first ever tennis state championship. After graduating from Dixie High School, Tyler played Division I Collegiate Tennis on scholarship for four years; two years at USU and two years at UNLV, where he was named Rookie of the Year. Among his many collegiate athletic accomplishments, Tyler played and competed in the All American Tennis Tournament in Texas, trained and competed in the USTA Pro Circuit Tournaments, and taught private and group lessons to some of the nation's top Junior Players.
With athletics in his blood, Tyler's competitive nature and passion for both coaching and playing tennis and basketball make him well suited for his current role as Assistant Varsity and Head Junior Varsity Basketball Coach at his alma mater (Dixie High School). He also helped launch and currently coaches at "All-Star Hoops," a basketball program that teaches athletic fundamentals and life lessons. All-Star Hoops has approximately 208 kids from third to eighth grade who compete in tournaments and leagues throughout the year.
When Tyler is not coaching or playing on either the basketball or tennis court, he enjoys spending his time with his wife Valerie and their two children Taylor, age six and Jordan, age three. Tyler is the owner of US Landscaping, which provides new landscape installation.
Tyler is extremely excited to utilize his passion for athletics and coaching through his involvement with Court Think and as a teaching professional at the Vic Braden Tennis College. He looks forward to helping others improve in tennis and in life.
